a Support Structure We Know. ilyAIMY's principle singer/songwriters, rob hinkal and Heather Lloyd, broke free of their day jobs and everyday Lives and into the world of full-time musicians September 2003. It's a step most artists don't take until they have some form of representation, a record deal and monetary support. ilyAIMY decided to put their faith in the only support structure they had - their fans. And though they've never looked back, it's put them on a frugal budget. As self-produced music has become more and more common, the cost of creating and duplicating albums is falling, but still out of reach for those of us pouring all funds into staying on the road. Though musicians aren't well-off, we are creative, and make up for our "monetarily challengedness" with inventive fundraising schemes. |

Getting
out new CDs serves both the band and the fans, and to that end we've
decided to join forces to our mutual benefit. Fans can pre-order CDs,
but in the spirit of selling one's Grandfather's ghost or a piece
of toast on eBay, ilyAIMY is also offering
up our individual tracks for bidding. Fans will actually be able to
sponsor the songs they love.
With touring and being so far away from at least a dozen pockets of ilyAIMY fans at any given time, this new album brings them all into the process even more intimately. In addition to the New Studio Album (NSA) sponsoring, we are also bringing fans into the studio process to critique recordings. They can also keep up to date with a day-to-day studio journal, photographs and in-progress mp3s. |
