go, but driving through my city with torrential downpours making the town smell like wet dog was made more than bearable knowing that Heather and I were destined to meet up with our friend Brennan at the Double T for some much-needed social bonding. 

Chesapeake Systems.

Yeah, not only have they rebuilt the church, but they've refurbished the pipe organ, you know, just in case you need to jam on the pipe organ. The organ was originally built in 1914 by MP Moller and apparently his pipe organ business was one of the building blocks that helped make Hagerstown a "viable business center in Western Maryland". Huh... who knew?!

Cold and wet but with the promise of warm company and hot food – it was kind of a perfect night.

Thursday night we joined forces with Paddy Kilrain and Justin Trawick at the Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan for one of those amazing shows that would’ve been perfect if there’d been anyone there to witness it.  Paddy was on her game, charismatic in her
quirky, off-kilter way – ferocious and charming like a theoretically house-trained panther.  It was my first time seeing Justin as anything but a solo artist, I think, and I was really stunned by him in trio configuration.  Tight, clear, powerful – upright bass
