The Takoma Park Open Mic. The Takoma Park open mic is moving in both time and space! Beginning on Sunday the 28th, rob Hinkal of the band ilyAIMY, partnered with House of Musical Traditions, will be starting up the New Takoma Park open mic at Capital City Cheesecake. Sign up starts at 5.30pm (in person or by text at 301.910.2575 - please provide your name, I'll sign you up for the next available slot and text that back to you) and performances will run from 6pm to 9pm. We accept all sorts of music and poetry and performance, but content-wise please be aware of the audience (we frequently get children). We don’t have space for drumkits and even trios are going to be hard-pressed to fit, but I’ll have mics and DIs for just about anything you can throw at me. Sets should be limited to either 10 minutes or two songs, whichever is SHORTER. Capital City Cheesecake also has wireless! This means I’ll be recording and webcasting the event at www.ustream.tv/channel/ilyaimy just like I do at my other open mics. What else does Capital City Cheesecake have?
