ilyAIMY: Performances that will crawl all over your train of thought

By Ashraf Dawod - Entertainment Editor
Other than the fact that I would love to have Heather Lloyd sing me to sleep every night with her voice that is as beautiful as she is, I think I’m a humble fan.
We as young students are always trying to link celebrities to our hometowns to feel proud of where we live. Well today I tell you: Be proud, be very, very proud to know that ilyAIMY is a Maryland-based, out of this world band. They are a five-piece group but I have yet to meet the other two. So far I have seen them perform twice in our own backyard. You will find them performing in Greenbelt, College park and even Baltimore and many other local spots. They provide the type of performances that will crawl all over your train of thought and have you thinking of nothing but those moments of harmonies between the talented voices of Rob and Heather while Sherief either is bass-guitaring his heart out or pouring his pain out on the keys of the keyboard.
The best thing about ilyAIMY’s music is they use the power of simplicity to the max. By simplicity I mean the fact that all they need is two acoustic guitars and a Jim bay and they can have a full-length concert that will have you begging for more. They have two albums out; one is entitled “Myxomatosis Failed,” which is a twelve track time bomb waiting to explode in your stereo. It’s very much recommended for a first buyer because you will feel part of the in crowd when you go see them live and sing along — that is of course if you keep practicing hard enough to be able to ACTUALLY adapt to Rob’s unbelievable speed of singing. It fits perfectly with its twin element of playing his guitar in ways that drive gravity to the point of almost giving up on physics.
The second album is called “On luck on fumes on spit on love.” This is a purely voice and acoustic child of Rob and Heather simply singing and playing the guitar, no other ingredients needed. I personally recommended getting both because if you’re in a chill type of mood you play the “on luck” CD and when you’re driving to party you pop in your “myxomatosis failed” to get you fired up right.
As you have noticed this review is very different from my earlier reviews, in which I would choose the best songs and write on them. So far, I can’t choose a favorite song for ilyAIMY because — well, they are all my favorite songs.
Also, with the other CD’s that I have reviewed you have no means to actually HEAR the CD before buying so I did that for you, but in this case you DO have a chance to enjoy the pleasure that is ilyAIMY at a stage near you. They have a Web site you can check out for when will they be performing in your area soon and if you’re a musician you can actually get a chance to PLAY with ilyAIMY at a PLOJ. Don’t know what a PLOJ is? Well then I guess that’s one more reason to check their Web site http://www.ilyaimy.com/ now, isn’t it?
Now when you do check their site out and you want to get a CD, you can either buy from their site or buy it from them when you go to their show. It’s a win/win situation. CHECK THEM OUT! You have not lived until you have seen ilyAIMY. Highly recommended.
