i love you And I Miss You – 1996

i love you And I Miss You / i love you And I Miss You

The i love you And I Miss You double cassette was created to capture a feeling. The past school year had been a great meeting time for rob, who was encountering musicians and writing his first songs in the stairwells of Baltimore City.

One of his newly found friednds was Will Schaff– a man of incredible artistic ability, incredible vision and incidentally, a great singer/songwriter.

The past year had seen a series of grafitti stickers springing up in almost every school building, on lamp posts, down in the men’s rooms in the Harbour, all sorts of everywhere. They were simple black and white Xeroxes of 70s family scenes with the hand scrawled caption “i love you And I Miss You”. Will wanted to create a musical version of the melancholy feeling that he received from the stickers, and stole the name for the project. (It later turned out that the stickers were part of a performance art project by fellow MICA student Greg McKenna).

Will snagged a flattered rob and two other friends, Carin Wagner and Sonny Roelle, and put together a two-cassette package that came with a 40 page booklet of art, poetry and lyrics, illegally copied at Kinko’s off a stolen card.

The group did three shows as i love you And I Miss You before all going their separate ways after college.

These recordings are now available on CD for those of you who absolutely MUST have all the little weird odds and ends of rob’s early songwriting Life. Drop him a line about it.

Song List:
This is a little weird – each “edition” was different. Will, Sonny and rob each made different mixes on the cassettes we sold, and eventually Sonny put out a sort of “master” edition on CD, so no concrete song list exists!
