Your EYES ARE AMAZING.

All of y'all.

I spent a lot of time in a mask this past week, and a lot of time looking at people IN masks to boot. And I'm soooo into the collective IRIS OF MY SPECIES.

Eyeballs : weird little fleshy orbs though they be, are beautiful things. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them as we travel around this coming week.

Tomorrow we'll stare at eyeballs down in Alexandria, VA where we'll play in the lush pizza-bearing gardens of Lena's (TOTALLY where pizza comes from, pietrees, dripping with round FRUITS!!!) - and then Thursday we roam West to the eyeballs of University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, PA and then Saturday we're headlining the DELMARVA Folk Festival in Clayton, DE and there's gonna be eyeballs there too!

And in-betwixt? We can feel your eyeballs through the webcasts. They express through emojis and comments. We know they're there. Beautiful and luminous, watching and absoooorbing.

If you’ve got some digital currency burning holes in your digital pockets, we’ve got physical merch at ilyaimy.square.site and digital merch at ilyaimy.bandcamp.com – and of course we’ll happily accept donations at paypal.me/ilyaimy and Venmo @ilytips. We even have an Amazon wishlist covering things we use regularly or could regularly use – whether you’re thinking “gosh, they deserve a new audio interface and / or action figures and some socks!”.

upComing and inComing:

VOM with us and LET IT ALL OUT on Mondays at 7pm ET. 2 pieces / 10 minutes whichever’s shorter. The first Monday of the month is a new song night dedicated to a topic… next month’s topic is “falling all over ourselves for the last time”. For further details…

Alexandria - 515 Mt Vernon Ave,

A beautiful oasis in the midst of Alexandria. We’re secluded beneath foliage and ferns and fed the finest of foods. It was one BILLION degrees that first night and we STILL had an awesome time. That’s how good Lena’s (401 E Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22301) is! Get there early…

September 28, 2021 | the SPRING Open Mic

Sandy Spring - 17901 Bentley Road

Okay – so below is the venue’s description with a couple of my own caveats! These will be held outdoors assuming the weather cooperates, 2 songs or 10 minutes whichever’s shorter, family friendly environment. You’re welcome to bring a picnic dinner – or there’s plenty of local restaurants that you…

Keeping ourselves sane, sort-of employed – and most importantly – keeping us from Loving and Missing YOU too much – ilyAIMY’s Live from the Lair marches into 2021. Join us every Wednesday night at 7pm ET on Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.

Greensburg - 150 Finoli Dr,

Such a strange journey that brings us back to this college in Western Pennsylvania year after year. We had to skip last year, but in 2021 this college has invited us back and that beautiful drive through Western Maryland and up into Pennsylvania calls us. Details forthcoming on how to…

Clayton - 352 Downs Chapel Rd

Music all weekend with friends like the Honey Badgers and John Flynn – and we will be doing our “Murder Ballad” workshop at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, and headlining the festival at 9pm. More info, schedule and tickets at www.delfolk.org

Full a full calendar, please visit www.ilyaimy.com/calendar

ESPECIALLY nowadays with COVID restrictions and so many outdoor shows, it's probably not a bad idea to call a venue ahead of time to make sure there are no surprises. We try to keep everything up-to-date on ilyAIMY.com - but our social media it's probably more up-to-the-second! Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are where we'll probably manage to get cancelations, schedule and detail changes first - so make sure you follow, Like, finger us... whatever it is you do on those crazy thangs!

Wandering and Wondering:

Last week Heather Aubrey Lloyd took over the Live from the Lair stream with Ani DiFranco and Indigo Girls covers because Kristen and I went to go see Ani DiFranco and the Indigo Girls (who in turn did a couple of John Prine and Woody Guthrie covers). It was all very tangled. We had an amazing time but I'm glad we had tickets closer to the edge of the crowd at Wolf Trap. It was certainly a LOT of people and Kristen and I had a number of conversations about our comfort levels.

As with other big events where a LOT of money's involved but not a lot of religion or politics (other than the religion of money and the politics brought to the stage by the artists) the venue worked hard to make sure people were as safe as possible and vaccination status was checked at the gates and masks were required for the more "in-doorsy" parts of the complex.

We CAN have nice things, but I urge you always to wonder whether a space cares about YOU and your health and safety - or just your money.

We're trying to be smart by performing solely at places that have outdoors options and / or masking requirements (Thursday's U Pitt show is in-doors, but masks are required) and the band is 100% vaccinated, but we're still webcasting because sometimes home is still the best option - and winter is coming.

This weekend it was SO good to see people, and it's going to be SO GOOD to see people THIS weekend. At least your eyes.

Your eyes are AMAZING.

*the murder ballads have evolved over the centuries. We haven't been teaching this workshop for several centuries. I realized that wasn't clear. Especially with the RUMOURS that have been floating around. About... you know... eternal Life and the blood of the innocent? We're just an everyday friendly non-vampiric traditional folk band so don't worry your pretty little heads about it and can I see your neck please?
