Wednesday night in Silver Spring: I know it's not an ilyAIMY gig, but we're probably going to be pretty close to quorum! I'll be hosting a new rob's open mic in Silver Spring, MD at the same spot where I've hosted the Takoma Park Folk Festival sneak preview shows - a supportive, warm n' friendly restaurant called El Golfo. I know Heather's talking about trying to come out, and Rowan's planning on coming by... I don't know if Joey'll make the first one but I've got one of his other bands featuring later in the month. 

Come out and see the huge variety of music and poetry the local area has to offer at the El Golfo open mic! Signup at 6.30pm, show at 7.30pm - featured artist round about 8.30 - great Pan-Latin food all night (order fajitas to give us smoke effects on stage!).

TONIGHT'S featured artist shall be Djangolaya! "Djangolaya is a group of musicians in the DC Metro Area celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt and gypsy jazz. We’re an acoustic group with a European flair. You’re likely to hear a wide range of music from swing to bossa nova to tango and more."

It's a great space, and the owner's really excited to open her stage to our amazing local (and not-so-local) music and arts community. Please come out and help keep us warm on a cold, cold night!

I'm looking forward to this week. I feel like I've been ALMOST taking it easy since Christmas. Ish. New Year's Eve being a massive exception! But I'm looking forward to swinging back into the swing of things. By which I mean my first featured artist at my new open mic in Silver Spring is rooted in jazzy Euro-swing. So - yeah - swingy!
