Let's talk about Joey.
If you're familiar with ilyAIMY from over a decade ago, or only as the touring trio, or maybe just from my open mics, you may not have met Joey. Joey Jenkins. Drummer extraordinaire. Spirit Animal to the optimist.
It seems like it's been forEVER since I've seen him, and it rankles at my lil rabbit heart.
But I'll get a (meeeerrrrr) Whole Lotta Joe in the next couple of days. (meeeeeerrrrr - do you hear that Zeppelin riff or is it just me?)

There is so much beauty in this world. I find myself more and more horrified by our willingness NOT to see it. We seem obsessed with horror and cruelty to the aversion of the positive, and like breeds like. If you surround yourself with cruelty, you WILL become cruel.
It works the other way, too. I mean... look at my hair! It became beautiful simply from being around Heather for two decades. Smile. Even if it's forced. Smell the sunflowers. When you don't have sunflowers, learn to Love the red of rust. It's a sunset in the city without the heat.
I'm looking for ways to look up. Joey Jenkins helps. Come to a show and get an infusion of optimist stance. He helps. A lot.
