Last night Carole Wise came to my Takoma Open Spark. The Spark's my new open mic in Takoma Park, and there's all this imagery that goes along with Sparks and Creativity and BURNING. The spark of consciousness, the spark of creativity. The spark that starts the fire. The spark that sparks the revolution. The spark that starts the car and reminds you that it's naught but a series of controlled explosions harnessed for the purpose of getting me and my guitar from point A to point TP. (in this case Takoma Park, but yes, sometimes in search of Toilet Paper).
Carole Wise is a woman with SPARK that we met at NERFA this year. She's heartfelt and fierce. She is Love, passion and sadness. Elegant guitar work with growl. Last night she was my feature at the Takoma Open Spark, and tonight she's our guest, Live from the Lair.
Truly, if had flames for hands and a penchant for dripping wax on the carpet I'd sing her a little song and encourage her to ask the dishes about how good dinner's going to be.

My eyes are shying away from full conscious absorption of the world around me. They see the light. I'm making sense of it all. But truly, I want to curl back under the blankets, activate my sleep snorkel, and hibernate.
But I can't.
Friends are coming over.
I LOVE it when friends come over. And there's no REAL reason I can't just greet all those friends in my pajamas and / or Yoda onesie.
But mayhaps that would send the wrong signal. Like... that I want to play lullabies and sweet songs rather than rockin' out. And I simply ALWAYS want to rock out.
Just... sometimes the rockin' out has to come after another coffee please. |
