ilyAIMY Dangerous Music for Dangerous Times

Greetings M. February. You are lacking the bluster and blister that I associate with you - but I understand that it's within your capacity to lay in wait and surprise me when I'm least expecting it.

Or maybe you're being gentle because it's almost my birthday?

In any case, I'm going to eyeball you askance because I know you're up to SOMETHING and we've got miles n miles n miles to cover and if you don't think I can eyeball a whole MONTH - well, you've got another think comin'. And a couple of shows to boot.

A big full band bash at the New Deal Cafe to celebrate rob day! Battling cancer in Pennsylvania! A house concert in Ellicott City! LEAP DAY! There's good stuff in February. There always is.

upComing and inComing:

Fri 2/7 – rob’s birthday at New Deal Cafe (rHKRSJ).
113 Centerway, Greenbelt, MD 20770 | 8.30pm

We've been playing the New Deal Cafe for longer than rob's been playing guitar. It only makes sense that we come back here for special events. We've played Heather's birthday here (did you need to see us playing Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" in the tattered remnants of our Halloween costumes? Click here!) and now it's time for rob to turn 45.

Yep.

This will be a full band show. Many people think they've seen the full band. Think back in your mind. Were there 6 of us? There are six of us.

Sextet.

Hawt.

Sat 2/8 - Gettysburg Rocks (r).
There are two types of benefits we'll generally participate in... education and fighting cancer. Rob Simon's Gettysburg Rocks is one of the most successful of the latter, and I'll be performing at the Mason Dixon Distillery (331 E Water St, Gettysburg, PA 17325) at 7pm for this year's event.

Sun 2/23 – Bonnie Branch House Concert (rHKR).
Ellicott City, MD | RSVP at Concert@BonnieBranch.org for address. More information at bonniebranch.org | 6pm | $20 suggested donation

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., show starts about 7:00 p.m. Some drinks are provided, both soft and hard; feel free to bring your favorite with you. Most of the band likes bourbon or dark, dark, dark beers. Just... so you know. But with a house concert we've got to roll gentle lest we end up in your laps.... so... make decisions.

Bring an hors d’oeuvre, finger food, or dessert to share!

Oh... and one last thing... next month in Baltimore...

Wandering and Wondering:

Last month's show in Columbia, MD was immense - and we can't thank Ross Martin and One World Coffeehouse enough for their support. It was a beautiful show and a reminder that we're not pinned to the bars that we so often play to make a Living. Though they can be fun, the amount of joy that comes from having someone else take care of the nitty and the gritty, NOT fighting to be heard over espresso machines and the guy at the bar, showing up and doing what we LOVE rather than showing up and doing all the parts that we hate so that we can EVENTUALLY get around to what we LOVE - it really was a dangerously perfect gig.

Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of that.

Oh - and to those of you who emailed me expressing concern that "buttering my server" was NOT the correct way of dealing with my website angsts... well... you were right. You were so very, very right.

-rob
