Tonight is Live from the Lair. Saturday is a rare rob and Rowan duo show. It should be a good week, but it's not. However - the music's going to help.

John Peiffer is a formidable musician. Multiple instruments, a great writer, he brings a unicycle and arialist talents to the table as well, but we don't have room for the last two in the Lair. His grin says "I've got Life figured out" but his songs tell you he doesn't, and I respect that.

SATURDAY is a show that maybe should've been ticketed so we had some idea if anyone's going to show up! I'm a little bit worried, but playing with Rowan is it's own reward. We just look kind of funny when we're flailin' and wailin' as the only people in the room. Live in Gaithersburg, MD with accompaniment from really, really good Jamaican food.

We bought a house on Wednesday. This house. Our house. It's been 9 months of stress and tension getting here, and we foolishly thought that that would mean we could breathe easy for a moment.

But Prince got sick a couple of days before the signing. He seemed to be getting better but the news from the vet is potentially devastating, with just enough accompanying question marks to give us hope. We should know more soon but we're confused and anguished and exhausted and sad and it's awful.

The troubles of a very large cat are a very small thing in this big, troubled world - but he's outsized in our hearts and Lives and we'd appreciate any positive thoughts you've got to give.
