ilyAIMY Dangerous Music for Dangerous Times

Tomorrow is my birthday. How odd.

Saturday though, Saturday's important. I'm running up to Gettysburg for Rob Simon's Gettysburg Rocks - a magnificent weekend of music all supporting the eradication of cancer. They do great things, and I figure it's probably the most positive thing I can do with the very beginning of my 45th year.

Come join me.

upComing and inComing:
Sat 2/8 - Gettysburg Rocks (r).
There are two types of benefits we'll generally participate in... education and fighting cancer. Rob Simon's Gettysburg Rocks is one of the most successful of the latter, and I'll be performing at the Mason Dixon Distillery (331 E Water St, Gettysburg, PA 17325) at 7pm for this year's event.

Wandering and Wondering:

February Album Writing Month (FAWM) is such a wondrous thing. My friend Gino Abellanosa is running full tilt at it and he'd written 6 songs by Monday night's open mic at Teavolve. My friend Jon Patton of Midway Fair has written beautiful things. I've actually written two new songs and am making good headway on a third - but I have the suspicion that momentum is about to come crashing to a halt because we've got shows and gigs and family travel and this CAT just won't LEAVE ME ALONE and he's SWEET but he ruins recordings and hates guitars...

For those of you who don't know - FAWM.org is a really cool community effort encouraging musicians to write and record an "album's worth of material" (defined as 14 songs) over the course of the month of February. It's actually how the majority of cicada was written! I didn't manage it last year, and though I have SOME hope for this year, February is generally really, really busy for me. But I'm tryin'.

SO - if you want - send me some encouragement and inspiration (except Kristen - significant others should NEVER go out of their way to INSPIRE music cause... it just never goes well) and if YOU want encouragement and inspiration - well, it's not too late to head over to fawm.org and explore, listen, lurk - or start writing yourself!

Goodness knows... we've got stuff to say.
