Tonight we're Live from the Lair from Pittsburgh with Brad Yoder and OrangeG. All across the nation we've got other road-warrior friends in various stages of picking up the pieces and getting back on the road. Some jumped back into the game FAST and has been back to touring for over a year, facing down cancelations and the not-quite-post-pandemic realities bravely, and others have announced that they'll never tour again. After tonight's webcast Brad will hop in a car and head off to Columbus OH about 12 hours ahead of us on his way to Kerrville, TX. OrangeG we'll next see here in Maryland.
I'm looking forward to time on the road, seeing long-forgot places - HOPING too see long-lost faces. The harsh realities - that venues and fans have been lost over the past 3 years - mean it feels a LOT like we're starting from scratch.
Over the course of the past decade many of our fans have turned to social media, abandoning email as a way to be reached - but Instagram hates links and text, Facebook's invite system kept breaking over the past several weeks, we have no clue about tiking our tok and Twitter... is... well... special.
And so, dear mailing list, let us know you're still out there. Sound off and let us know where you want us! With these latest tour announcements, thwarted by algorithms, spam filters and general bugginess, I've resorted to individually contacting hundreds of individual fans - only to later discover that a) 75% of my messages got stopped cold by Facebook jail ("sorry, you're posting too fast") and b) ONE in TWENTY of the accounts I tried to reach have been replaced by memorial pages or are solely covered in "RIP" announcements...
We are excited to once again be touring, but the world is throwing metaphorical, digital and literal, physical roadblocks in our way (getting up 95 last night was a comedy of terrors). But we won't know to come to YOU unless we know you're still there.
We Love you and we miss you. And we're so thankful for your support over the years. Let's get this show back on the road. Just let us know what doors we should be knocking on. |
