ilyAIMY Dangerous Music for Dangerous Times

Some cool news - our Lovely cookbook got featured in No Depression magazine for their (sold out!) winter edition! As part of that ilyAIMY also got featured in a really cool Spotify playlist that frankly has some really flattering company : big names like Jeff Buckley and Elvis Presley and Nirvana, names that I still think of as kind of undergroundy but who I'm big fans of like Bonnie "Prince" Billy and the Mountain Goats and Murder By Death - and then other peeps who we're honoured to count as friends and fellow road warriors like Rebecca Loebe and Carolina Chocolate Drops.

If you're a Spotify-savvy human, take a listen here.

If you're not, well, just come to a show!

Sat Nov 16th - ilyAIMY and Ayreheart in Fairfax, VA
Sat Nov 16th - Epicure Cafe | Fairfax, VA 11104 Lee Hwy, Fairfax, VA 22030 | Suggested donation $10

I'm kind of bummed this doesn't seem to be generating more buzz. Amazing Mediterranean food and amazing music. Ronn McFarlane's Ayreheart and ilyAIMY last crossed paths on stage in Baltimore as part of a 98 Rock show where our sound guy was kinda like "you play a whut?"

Lute that shreds, acoustic guitar that growls, thunderous percussion, didgeridoo, skirling cello and whirling fretless bass with songs that draw from European Renaissance classical moodiness to modern "acoustic grunge" and everything in between. We'll each have a couple of sets to ourselves, but the last hour or so will be a big supergroup TOGEVAH set that shouldn't be missed!

Wandering and Wondering:

The last couple of months we've had a bunch of practices with Ayreheart. It's a great reminder that there's always something to learn. Rowan and Matthias (Ayreheart's percussionist) have been bonding and last night there was a LOT of comparing of shakers, overly complicated conversations about cymbals and the showing off of cajon tricks. It's all a little weird, actually.

Then Willard (bass, mandolin, violin) started playing the theme from David Lynch's 80s version of Dune during Baliset, and Kristen and he started working out the "real" string licks for Kashmir... I've got to admit, I think me and Ronn and Heather are just sort of enjoying watching our bands at play.

It's almost TOO much fun.
