Nineteen years ago today Heather Lloyd and I played our first show together. We'd been trying songs and experimenting maybe with open mics, but this was the night that she was unveiled as the NEW female co-front of ilyAIMY.
And now it's 19 years later. We've traveled all over the country, we've got over 10 albums together. We've both picked up new weird talents and traits (leveling up is NEVER linear) and instruments... we're embedded in one another's Lives in a way that goes far beyond most relationships, and have outlasted most relationships to boot.
Being as separated as we are right now is hard - but we'll be together virtually tonight, and physically on Wednesday, celebrating our ferocious longevity. We'll probably keep on celebrating right through our Saturday show where we'll be playing in Philadelphia remotely, while practically in Baltimore, physically together, but virtually playing from JJ Tiziou's house with The David Wax Museum and Koofreh.
Once upon a time we were merely much-hyphenated. Now we're caveated as well.
These are interesting times.
Be safe my friends. We Love you and we Miss You.
Happy 19 years! |
