For almost a year I've been pressing buttons and pulling levers and shoving faders from back porches and basements and makeshift lairs. I press the big button that makes us go Live. Sometimes Kristen presses the big red button that brings us back down again but generally speaking - there has been no moment in the past year where I've gotten to solely perform.
Thursday - I just get to play.
Institute of Musical Traditions presents ilyAIMY at Allyworld - a beautiful studio space that has the space for us to bring in Rowan Corbett. I won't have to run all the cables, ask everyone to play, then run downstairs and squeeze headphones to my head. Grammy-award winning Charlie Pilzer will be twisting the knobs, pressing the buttons. All we need to do is play - and I don't remember when I last had such a simple luxury.
Tickets are just $10 and they're available through imtfolk.org. I hope you'll join us. |
