ilyAIMY Dangerous Music for Dangerous Times

Tonight's a New Song Night on my open mic... so I've got to go practice a bit AND I think you've got a tune from Heather, and Rowan, and Joey - so there's a lot going on. But that's TONIGHT. There's so much other stuff going on. My wriggling senses of JOY are a'wrigglin and writhin' and ... well, let Kristen Jones tell you about it:

This Friday, May 7th is Bandcamp Friday, where 100% of download purchases go directly to the artists - and in observance of the imminent emergence of Brood X cicadas, we'll be offering a special on our 2017 full-band album "cicada"!

It will be pay-what-you-want on Friday, and every paid download of the album will receive a special bonus track (a remix of "Secret Surgery" by Artem Bank). Stay tuned on FB & IG for a new video dropping soon from Heather Aubrey Lloyd, and we'll also be doing some features throughout the week on what each band member did on the album.

We're really proud of this album - it's an unusual one in that all the songs were written by rob (except for Heather's spoken word piece "Cicada Summer" - Heather released her solo album Message In the Mess the same year, so we view the two albums as a companion set). rob recorded and mixed the entire album in our basement, and the band really stretched itself with new instruments and styles (helped along by a few special guest artists). During the creation process, we discovered that there was an odd off-year emergence of the 17-year Brood X cicadas happening, and we thought there were some metaphorical tie-ins to that...so we rolled with "cicada" as the album title & theme.
If you don't yet have this album, see what the buzz is about on Friday. If you already have it, you can gift a download to a fellow cicada lover! https://ilyaimy.bandcamp.com/album/cicada

If you’ve got some digital currency burning holes in your digital pockets, we’ve got physical merch at ilyaimy.square.site and digital merch at ilyaimy.bandcamp.com – and of course we’ll happily accept donations at paypal.me/ilyaimy and Venmo @ilytips. We even have an Amazon wishlist covering things we use regularly or could regularly use – whether you’re thinking “gosh, they deserve a new audio interface and / or action figures and some socks!”.

Out back from the House of Musical Traditions (7010 Westmoreland Ave., Takoma Park, MD) is the STAGE. Huzzah! ilyAIMY kicked off the Stage of Musical Traditions dressed up in Grogu costumes last year for Halloween and now I’m back for something just about as unlikely : a Bob Dylan Tribute.…

Wandering and Wondering:

I'm listening to Sting in the background because Heather said my new song (for unleashing tonight) sounds like a rob-take-on-Sting song and there's a really weird percussion sound in "Englishman in New York" that had me thinking there was an unknown notification happening on my desktop somewhere. Sting! Quit freakin' me out man! I got ENOUGH going on! Sheesh.

Aight friends. Bass solo. Gotta go wriggle!

Oh wait. Those drums are HIGHLY questionable. Sting? We gotta talk about your choices.
