Devon Sproule performing at Cyclops Books / Baltimore Chop in Baltimore, MD. She was riveting
Returning to Cyclops Books in Baltimore, MD – we were surprised to find that our opening act, turned out to be our old friends, the renamed J&B Blues Project! It was an interesting night filled with exploration. I LOVE playing book shops!
Heather and I performing at Cyclops, opening for Devon Sproule. Heather had really landed a cool gig with this show, opening for a woman who we hadn’t seen in many years, right after she’d been reviewed by Rolling Stone magazine. We got a great response and I felt that despite technical difficulties, we played a great show. It WAS like some sort of evil deity was hanging out over our heads throwing adversity at me: First the pickup in my guitar went awry, not giving me any sound from not just the treble side of my guitar, but eventually my whole high E string. One of the JB kids was kind enough to let me borrow his Martin – so no problem… but then the battery in my tuner died…. and then my capo didn’t fit his guitar…. and then I realized that my ebow would not only NOT WORK on his pickup, but make a frightening and impressive and above all very unpredictable GRAAAAAAGH sound… and THEN the battery in the DI started dying causing an impressive distortion sound…. We’re ilyAIMY Bad Luck Gig Deity! We shall overfuckingcome!!!!
