Heather and I performing at Brewers Alley in Frederick, MD.Also in Frederick, I think this is the first time that Heather broke out a ukulele at a gig – performing “Winter Bride” at the Frederick Coffee Company”. I apologize that stuff’s a bit out of order! But this is what happens when I import stuff in off o’ my phone!
Deanne Carroll popped in from Wilmington, NC and joined us at Acacia Sears’ open mic at Teavolve in Baltimore City, MD. Yay! It’s been years since we saw her so it was really good to have her just magically appear!
Jonny Grave performing at Iota in Arlington, VA. He done hijacked my Rowan! But people often do. Rowan seemed to enjoy another man’s rhythm as well, getting to break out some fancy brush-work to accompany Jonny’s gritty delta-blues-inspired rasp. To the right, on the continued theme of photographing giant bugs, one of the biggest praying mantises I’ve ever seen. This one was attacking the House of Musical Traditions, trying to consume all comers and do battle with radioactive skinks. It was an unholy commotion. I Loved him and wanted to take him home to eat our mosquitoes but he ran away before I could find a jar. And by jar I mean energy-field-reinfoced steel and adamantium containment unit. Cause that’s what you use, you know?
Grr!
first a show of the Lovely and talented Kyndal performing at my Java Mammas open mic. She’s got a really sweet voice and an intense case of stage fright that comes across as vibrato. She gets better every time we see her and I’m kind of shocked by just how talented she is. And not just as a performer either. The second shot is her photograph of ilyAIMY performing later in the night.
