For my third Edith May’s Paradise open mic I was joined by Heather! And about a billion ukuleles. About 8 to be exact. Which is less than a billion, but when it comes to ukuleles in an enclosed, eight can feel like a billion. It was apparently an entirely spontaneous invasion. It was a great night, even if a little overly ukedelic – and good times were had.

Car care.  Sigh.  I wanna buy a new one instead (yes even after all that trouble).  My poor Saturn is well over 160k and I’m worried that I’m not a good enough car owner to have something that requires the Love and attention that an older car needs… but I probably don’t have the money, don’t really understand the process of buying a new one any more than I understand the process of truly taking care of my car.

As I wait in the lobby of the repair shop I’m listening to the recording of Andy Luttrell – the sounds of the guitars that I liked so much in the room and through the speakers at home now sound thin and not as exciting.  How much does it worry me?  Well – let’s see how Andy likes it… I mixed out that sour note from one player that’d been bugging me so much, the rest of the performance isn’t flawless, but it’s spirited and a LOT of fun.

I need to put together a good EQ / reverb solution that attacks the piezo sound of a piezo and gives it some presence.

I like the stereo spread.  I like listening to things split amongst the field.  The last person I worked with heard how I was placing instruments and told me “You know how sometimes you hear one instrument over here, and another one over here?  Don’t do that… I don’t like that!”  Le sigh.  That’s on my list of things to remix since I think I can like it a lot more the way I’D do it!
