The visit with Emily was good. She’s so sweet and managed to chat with us for nearly half an hour or so. Hospitals are frightening, especially when they’re so empty. After having been harassed by cops for simply being on the hospital campus I was surprised by how easy it was to just wander the interior. Emily lay behind plenty of “authorized access only” doors and we were nervous about just popping in. However, after a lot of coordination with her mom we did swing the visit – her eyes were tired but her personality shone through them betwixt her shaved scalp and the top of her mask. We all had to wear masks because of her ravaged immune system….
My experience with hospitals is wildly variable – but the ones my parents have frequented had been generally filthy places with ill-tempered staff that left me really, really worried about care. My mother comes home with infections and various hospital-borne diseases every time and my father was arguably killed by incompetent staff. It’s good to be reminded that SOME hospitals at least come across as clean and skilled.

Merf.
Let’s not talk about that. We’re in Columbus, OH with the Coxes, oh my! And I Love it. I Love Columbus. More than I ought to perhaps – because I will never move here.
Despite how wonderful the local arts scene is and how great the people here are – it’s just not central enough to my world. Prices are cheap (this amazing apartment that we’re staying in would be MUCH more expensive in Baltimore, what with its unique shape, great location, 1st floor access, river view, etc) and I LOVE this place. The company ain’t too bad either. Jason Cox is an old, old, old friend – one of the initial people to get me into gaming back in grade school (4th grade or so? Sheesh – so I’ve known him for close to 27 years?!) and it’s been great to spend time with him.
We think about a lot of the same stuff and his Life has taken him to a place that could’ve been my path if I hadn’t been shaken aboot by my Love of music. His apartment is decorated with folded paper creatures and illustrations, paintings and pictures that match pretty well with my own tastes. We spend the days wandering Columbus and the nights hanging out and playing fun board games. And drinking flavoured vodkas.

Note to self: jolly rancher flavoured vodka? Baaaad – and yet soooo good!
