GOOD MORNING!!! Hiking back to the top of the hill with Heather. And Pikaheather. I swear, we must’ve walked 10 miles every day at Falcon Ridge. Begin the Random Encounters! Here’s Bethel Steele greeting us with her tongue – she has been a good friend for many a year at this point and it was great to see her finally getting recognition as one of Falcon Ridge’s Emerging Artists this year! Back at the Dance Tent on Saturday night we caught a) CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band and b) caught Charlie, the Stray Birds’ bass player whirling the night away! the vendor tents at Falcon Ridge. the creepy light people wandering in front of the main stage…. Pesky J Nixon, Eric Lee and Spuyten Duyvil join forces! One of my favourite discoveries of NERFA – Bobtown at the Budgiedome at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, NY. Kindred Queer – who we’d last seen at a venue in Connecticut – happened to be playing the Front Porch as I was walking by on our way up to the Budgie Dome. Absolutely stunning vocals – I wasn’t sure at first when I caught a glimpse of them gathered around a campfire, but there’s no mistaking that vocal harmony. They were really glad to see a familiar face! The last night at Falcon Ridge it got really, really, really cold. We gathered around the campfire at Lounge Camp and traded songs – but not TOO late because Kristen and I had to race to Bowie the next morning to run my OBTG open mic! All in all – my favourite folk festival experience ever and my SECOND favourite camping experience!
