Fri 4/19 – Sofar Baltimore.
Mount Vernon, Baltimore, MD | 7.30pm | $21 – tickets at sofarsounds.com
Rowan and I have done a number of these Sofar shows, and they’re always a fun time. You never really know what the location’s going to be like till the last second, but the locations are curated, making this a strange mix between pop-up house show and a “real” concert. We’ve played in ruins and health food shops, music studios and private residences and a photography studio. I’ll let you in on a secret in that I BELIEVE this one is actually a *gasp* “real” music venue! (though maybe they’ll tuck us in a non-performance-oriented corner of a performance-oriented space, when I saw that we were playing at a community centre with a theatre I did a double-ta- wait, have I said too much?)
In any case – beyond not knowing the venue, you ALSO don’t know what two other acts you’ll be partnered with, but it’s always good. Come and enjoy one of the more unique concert concepts* out there and tumble to something cool.
*yes, there are haters of Sofar – here was my response years ago – Sofar’s changed a bit, COVID especially scattered the organization, but I think the pertinent points are still valid.
