Rebecca Berlin projects something special. She feels like she's telling us secrets even though she's singing with a huge, brassy voice to a room full of people. She speaks and sings about complicated human things, messy human things, and mirrors them with complicated, shifting piano chords and rhythms that I sometimes struggle to follow - and that's pretty messily human too. First a regular of the VOM, now a regular at my in-person open mics, she's a rising star in the local DC-metropolitan singer/songwriter scene and I'm so flattered she likes playing with US!
Add to that Willard Morris? It's going to be an incredible night. Though I'd say the mutual Love fandom of me and Ronn McFarlane is what cemented the ilyAYREheart shows, I get the impression that it's Willard who initially saw the possibility of the meshing of our music. Dangerously prolific, and in the context of our little Lair, also dangerously tall, Willard has been joining Rebecca Berlin for a couple of HER performances, so it seems only natural that we draw this beautiful circle tight together and shove it in our basement.
We'll see you tonight! (if you comment) |
