As a preview and guide to the journal I’m writing on NERFA, here is an exhausting (to make) not exhaustive (as it represents only a smathering of what appeared at the conference and what I saw in shared showcases, main-stage appearances, song circles, etc.) hitlist of songs I plan to reference. You can just about make the disc on itunes for between 10-15 dollars and the videos of songs too new to be recorded are free. There are two that are phantom songs, so rare I will have to beg the artists to grant me some lyrics, just so I can try to explain their greatness to you.

ilyAIMY performing at the Suzi Wollenberg Folk DJ Showcase (sponsored by John Platt of WFUV) at NERFA in Kerhonkson, NY. At this point I’ve downloaded half-a-billion photographs from a bunch of different people’s Facebook pages – I apologize if something’s not credited properly! That being said, I think this show is courtesy of Gordon Nash, who’s responsible for a LOT of our recent success in the folk community.

I caught up with the Squid Jiggers at their booth at NERFA to complain about their style choices and explain that we could still be friends, and in truth, I’d book them – but that the boots might be an issue.

Okay – I’m really sorry if I don’t have times and page numbers and names all sorted out. I’ll do my best to put them together retroactively – but above is an example of my Saturday night schedule – Thursday and Friday I didn’t even get names, just a string of numbers – times like 9.36pm and 10.48pm and four-digit room numbers that sent me all over the hotel as they were based on musicians NOT on geographical logic!
