There Are NOT Worms in the Kitchen!

Setting up outside Wieland’s Barbecue in Catonsville, MD. We had enough time to set up and play a set before it started raining – and then we got the whole audience involved in transporting everything inside… reset… and up and running for set two in about 15 minutes!

There have been a LOT of moments over the past week where I’ve been thinking “man, I’ve got to sit down and write about that” and I just haven’t done it. And I didn’t sit down and write down what it was that I’d meant to sit down and write about, so I’m kind of screwed trying to return to it later.

A little moist, but none the worse for wear at Wieland’s BBQ.
May 5th finds me hosting a songwriter showcase at Hershey’s in Gaithersburg, MD. Was VERY flattered that Cletus Kennelly would join me for the night!

Strange dreams – a difficult candy store that only sold candy in the amount of candy you already had. I stood for hours watching other people come and go, trying to figure out how it all worked – a person would come in and hold up their bag of candy, the proprietors would eyeball it and then scoop an equal amount of candy into a new bag and charge them and off they’d go.

Performer number two of the night – Eryn Michel.

I kept waking up thinking “thank GOODNESS that’s over” and then fall back asleep and get dragged back to the same damned candy story. The kids behind the counter were very patient with me, but when it came down to it they only had Reece’s Pieces at an exorbitant price – something I don’t like at a price I wasn’t willing to pay in any case. Probably a huge metaphor in there.

Oh, also – just yesterday I came down the stairs very cautiously, not quite remembering why I was tentative about entering the kitchen, only discover that my memory of the floor being covered in worms was clearly a dream not an actual memory.

I have problems with that.

And last but not least – Mosno Al-Moseeki!

Last night I remember nothing really – had to move downstairs at around 2am because it was so hot upstairs. We’ve been avoiding bringing the air conditioners out because if we could get through these past two days the temps plummet again – and sure enough they have. After a night of sleeping in the cool, delicious air of my Lair I woke up legitimately cold. Looking ahead, it should be temperate for a week but if there’s one thing I don’t think I trust anymore, it’s the weather.

I shall eyeball it suspiciously from over here, thank you very much.

In the meantime we’ve got the doors and windows. The cat that may or may not be our cat is snoozing peacefully under the table. Kristen and I are tapping away fervently at our laptops with meetings and events happening SOON – but not… quite… right at this moment.
